21st Century STEM Academy Hosts Final Open House Event for May

DECATUR – 21st Century STEM Academy (“21C”), an educational center that focuses on preparing students to succeed in today’s global economy with an emphasis on science, technology and mathematics, will host its final open house Thursday so parents and students can learn more about educational opportunities at the new center.

21C is accepting applications for up to 40 new students for the 2018-19 calendar year at its location across from the Emory University campus at 1549 Clairmont Road in Decatur. Parents and students can tour 21C from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

“We provide home school parents and students the best opportunity to have exceptional teachers and personalized, project-based learning in a small learning environment,” said Heather Robinson, consulting director of 21C. “With small class sizes this affordable educational option is just what many parents have been looking for.”

Under this hybrid educational model, parents can enroll their children at 21C for STEM subjects and still teach them language arts and social studies at home. The educational center has a focus on modalities including computer coding, robotics, aeronautics with a sit-in flight simulator, 3-D printers and printing robots, project-based STEM work and foreign languages.

“With so many jobs of the future focusing on high-tech skills and automation, it is critical that students have a deep background in technology to be competitive in our changing economy,” Robinson said. “Parents appreciate that our center is preparing children for the jobs of the future whether they be with Amazon, Google, Facebook or another high-tech company.”
