Congresswoman Lucy McBath Joins Brookhaven Leaders For PCG Tour

U.S. Rep. Lucy McBath discussed long-term transit options during the tour with Brookhaven, DeKalb County, Chamblee and Doraville leaders.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — U.S. Rep Lucy McBath, who represents Brookhaven in Congress, made a stop at the Peachtree Creek Greenway this week.

The congresswoman toured the first mile of the greenway's multi-use trail and linear park build in Brookhaven, and learned more about the ongoing work to bring the greenway into Chamblee, Doraville and DeKalb County, according to a Thursday news release.

City leaders from the cities of Brookhaven, Chamblee and Doraville, as well as DeKalb County, the Salvation Army and nonprofit Peachtree Creek Greenway, Inc. joined McBath for the tour.

McBath’s visit follows a PCG tour with Congresswoman Nikema Williams in April. The greenway spans both Williams' and McBath's House districts, connecting neighborhoods, affecting long-neglected connectivity and promoting access to green space from Atlanta through Brookhaven, Chamblee, Doraville and unincorporated DeKalb County, the release said.

Both representatives championed the project through “Member Designated Project” funding in the Invest in American Act, passed by the House just before the July 4 recess. The bill remains subject to Senate approval and executive action.

"The Peachtree Creek Greenway, Inc. nonprofit advocates for the greenway and recognizes that paved trails serve all residents, those with limited mobility and many people who are part of underserved populations," the release said. "The vision of the Peachtree Creek Greenway, once completed, will connect communities, encourage economic opportunity, improve livability and provide an alternative transportation solution in this region of Georgia."
