Collective Soul Joins Cherry Blossom Summer Block Party
Brookhaven's alternate version of the Cherry Blossom Festival will include Georgia-based Collective Soul as one of the two headlining bands.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — Collective Soul — an alternative rock band originally from Stockbridge, Georgia — is joining the city of Brookhaven's Cherry Blossom Summer Block Party as one of the headliners for the two-day event.
The block party is set for Friday, July 30 from 3 p.m.-11 p.m. and Saturday, July 31 from noon-11 p.m., with Collective Soul now headlining Friday's event, the city announced in a news release. The Revivalists are slated to headline Saturday.
You may know Collective Soul from their debut single, "Shine," which was named the No. 1 Album Rock Song of 1994 and won a Billboard award for Top Rock Track. VH1 later named the song among its 100 Greatest Songs of the '90s list.

The now Atlanta-based band joins Rick Springfield, The Amy Ray Band, Baylee Littrell and Revel in Romance for the Friday lineup. Saturday's lineup includes The Revivalists, Better Than Ezra, Jagged Edge, Saleka and Hunter Callahan.
“I’m excited we’ve added a Georgia band as our Friday headliner, and you couldn’t ask for more than Collective Soul letting their ‘light shine down’ on us,’” Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst said in a news release. “I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the entire concert lineup, including some other musicians with Atlanta roots like Jagged Edge, Amy Ray Band, Baylee Littrell, Hunter Callahan and Revel in Romance.”

The Cherry Blossom Festival, the city's popular spring event, was initially canceled in January for the second consecutive year due to rising COVID-19 cases in Georgia.
But now that COVID-19 vaccinations are more easily accessible in Georgia and more people are getting vaccinated, the city is altering the Cherry Blossom Festival slightly — and giving it a new name — to celebrate a "return to normalcy following the global pandemic," the release said.
The two-day event takes place at the Brookhaven MARTA Station parking lot, as well as along Dresden Drive and Apple Valley Road.
Attendees are encouraged to take MARTA or the city's shuttle services as there will be no on-site parking for the event. Masks are required on MARTA and the shuttles per federal mandate, and all bags in the music festival lot must be clear — no exceptions. Pets will not be allowed in the concert lot.
Visit the festival website at www.BrookCherryFest.org for more information and for MARTA and shuttle locations.
