Armored Car Spills $175K On Dunwoody's I-285
Police are asking anyone who stopped to collect some free Benjamins to return the cash. After all, it's still theft.
DUNWOODY, GA — Tuesday night's Dunwoody forecast didn't say anything about it being cloudy with a chance of cash. Around 8 pm, Dunwoody police responded to I-285 west and Ashford Dunwoody Road to calls regarding money flying all over the road. 911 callers said more than 15 vehicles had stopped and people were frantically taking the money.
"When our officers arrived, they located an armored car on the right shoulder," police said in a statement. "The armored car crew said the side door came open while they were driving and money spilled out onto 285. Officers and the truck crew gathered a few hundred dollars that was still there when officers arrived, but plenty was taken by passerby’s sticky fingers."
The exact amount is currently unknown, but police said it could be upwards of $175,000.

"While we certainly understand the temptation, it’s still theft and the money should be returned," police said. "We are thankful there were no crashes or pedestrians struck as a result of this isolated cash storm."
