Brookhaven Declares State Of Emergency, Bans In Person Dining

All in-person dining at restaurants and bars in the city of Brookhaven in Atlanta have been banned to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — The city of Brookhaven has ordered all restaurants and bars to close, declaring a state of emergency to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. Takeout and delivery will still be available. The decision was unanimously approved by the City Council Monday during an emergency meeting via a conference call, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Brookhaven has a population of about 55,000. In-person dining will be prohibited until March 30. Restaurants that offer takeout should not let in more than one customer at a time, according to the resolution.

This decision comes after Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms issued a state of emergency for the city on Sunday night, updating the ban to gatherings of more than 50 people.
