Brookhaven Locations Hosting Toys For Tots Donations

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- Local residents can help make the holidays brighter for those in need through Toys for Tots. Once again, residents can drop off donations for Toys for Tots through Dec. 14 at City of Brookhaven facilities, including City Hall, the Brookhaven Police Department, and Lynwood and Briarwood recreation centers. New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at any of the four facilities between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Donations will also be accepted at the City’s Light Up Brookhaven event on Thursday, Nov. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Blackburn Park, 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road.

The Marine Toys for Tots Program has been delivering a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters since 1947. Over 70 years, 548 million toys have been distributed to 251 million children through the program.

The following are guidelines from Toys for Tots:

• New and unwrapped toys appropriate for boys and girls from newborn to 12 years old are welcomed.
• Program administrators note that they always run short of toys for ages 0 to 2 and 10 and older. Suggested toys for the older children include makeup kits, hair dryers, watches, colognes, perfumes, basketballs, footballs and other sporting equipment.
• Bicycles are always in very high demand and supplies never meet this demand. Please keep in mind that a bicycle cannot be distributed without a helmet.
