Two Suspects In Violent Brookhaven Murder Arrested

Miguel Angel Munoz was pistol whipped and then shot to death inside the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Brookhaven.

DECATUR, GA — Two women have been arrested in connection with the violent death of a Brookhaven man earlier this month. On Tuesday, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office fugitive unit Shauntae Laquana Taylor, 27, of College Park, Georgia, on a charge of felony murder. According to the arrest warrant, Taylor pistol whipped, then shot Miguel Angel Munoz at a hotel on Executive Park Drive.

Police found Taylor at a hotel in College Park, where she was taken into custody without incident and transported to the DeKalb jail.

Jessica Marie Smith, 25, of Duluth, Georgia, was arrested by Gwinnett County police. Both are charged with murder.

Munoz's body was found by hotel cleaning staff around about 11:30 am Wednesday, Sept. 4. Police believe Munoz was killed between between 5:30 and 6 am on Sept. 4. Police said two women were seen with Munoz before he was found.
