First Day Of Spring: Where To Get Freebies In Brookhaven

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- Wednesday, March 20 is the first day of spring, and that means free frozen dessert deals are going on.

With temperatures forecast to reach the upper 50s with sunny skies Wednesday and virtually no chance of rain, it will be a decent day for a cold treat. In metro Atlanta, you'll find freebies at Rita's Italian Ice and Dairy Queen. See more details about the freebies below.

Dairy Queen

Dairy Queen is offering a free small, vanilla cone for the first day of spring at participating, non-mall locations. The coupon is good all day Wednesday, March 20, and the limit is one per person.

There are DQ's in Chamblee at 2781 Chamblee Tucker Road; Northlake Mall, Decatur at 245 E Trinity Place; and Tucker at 4146 Lawrenceville Highway.

Rita's
For the 27th year, Rita's Italian Ice is marking the start of spring with one free Italian ice per person. Customers can also upgrade to a gelato with custard for an extra charge. Last year, all Rita's locations gave away nearly 1 million cups of Italian Ice within nine hours.

Rita's in Dunwoody is located at 3530 Ashford-Dunwoody Road. Rita's is also located in the Midtown Promenade Shopping Center, 931 Monroe Drive. Hours for the free Italian ice are noon-9 p.m.
