Got Happiness? Bring Home a Pet!

March 20th is International Day of Happiness, so we wanted to highlight five ways a pet makes your better and happier person

We get it, sometimes life can be RUFF. Every day we turn on the news and it seems like something bad has happened just down the street. Not to mention work, bosses, deadlines, grades, and the ever-looming tax season. But with all the stress life can toss our way, we wanted to bring attention to an often under appreciated part of our life that can bring us true joy. March 20th is International Day of Happiness, so at Deceased Pet Care, we wanted to highlight five ways a pet makes your better and happier person.

One: Pets Give Emotional Support
Pets are excellent supporters of our emotions. Why else do you think they’re allowed to fly on planes? Not to mention, a pets ear is always available and you’ll never catch any bark-back to what you have to say. If you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, sad, or just want someone to talk to, a pet is a perfect partner.

Two: Pets Make Their Owners Healthier
With this one, we’re not talking about emotional health, we’re talking about getting physical. With a few exceptions, Pet owners spend more time outdoors, getting that vitamin-D, and have a high chance of daily exercise. Those quick walks around the block are good for more than your puppy's bladder. They can bring a waistline reduction to boot. And believe or not, people with pets suffer less allergies than those without.

Three: Pets Make Their Owners Look Better
That’s right gentlemen (and ladies)! According to an article published in the New York Post, having a pup by your side makes you 24% sexier, and 14% more trustworthy, 13% more attractive that being pet-less. If that doesn’t make you single fellas want to look up the nearest pet adoption agency, we don’t know what will.

Four: Pets Make You More Responsible
If you’re looking to grow up, or raising a few future grown ups of your own, then look no further than a pet to give you a PhD in responsibility. The commitment of raising a pet is no small task. It often requires over a decade of commitment, fiscal responsibility, and increased social and task awareness. Pet’s can teach children empathy, social companionship, commitment, and reward them in the healthiest way possible: affection.

Five: Pets Make You Happier
If the previous four reasons weren’t enough, then this one is sure to make you smile, literally. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, spending time with a pet: lowers your blood pressure, soothes anxiety, connects you to meaningful and like-minded community, AND released dopamine and serotonin in your bloodstream.

Even though it feels like 2018 has brought enough stress for a decade, at Deceased Pet Care, we’re always looking for the brightest spots in the darkest (or just kinda dreary) days. We’re thankful for the pets in our lives that bring us endless moments of joy and happiness. And although we don’t need a reason, we hope you’ll just us in remembering our pets this March 20th for International Day of Happiness.
