Brookhaven remains one of only two communities that was promised a library, but has yet to be built.

The economy is the chief reason county officials point to when asked why Brookhaven Library has yet to be built, reports the Dunwoody Crier.

Despite $3.6 million in bond money slated for the project, Alison Weissinger, DeKalb Public Library Director, told the paper that she expects tough days ahead due to the operating budget decreasing while the operating spaces expands.

The new Brookhaven Library would replace the with a new state of the art facility nearly twice its current size.

After having voted overwhelmingly to support a $54.5 million bond issue to fund 13 library projects, Brookhaven remains one of two communities promised a new library that has yet to be built.
