BROOKHAVEN, GA — Monday, May 31 is Memorial Day. In observance of the holiday, most federal, state and local government offices are closed.
There will be no mail delivery. Many businesses are open but with different hours — so it's not a bad idea to check before heading out.

Here's a breakdown of how the holiday could impact your routine:
- DeKalb County government offices are closed Monday.
- Municipal offices for the city of Brookhaven are closed Monday.
- The DeKalb County Public Library system is closed Sunday, May 30 as well as Memorial Day. Normal hours will resume June 1.
- Brookhaven garbage pickup: The DeKalb County Sanitation Department is closed Monday, so there will be no garbage pickup. Collection will run one day late for all customers.
- The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority will operate bus service, rail service and Atlanta streetcar service on Sunday schedules for Memorial Day.
- DeKalb County Schools students are finished with school for the semester after Friday, May 28.
- This is a federal holiday and all U.S. Postal Service post offices are closed Monday.
- All banks will be closed.
