‘Mondays With Madeleine' Virtual Brookhaven Town Hall To Feature SJREC Chairman John Funny

The session is scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 28.

The public is invited to join District 3 Councilwoman Madeleine Simmons for the June edition of her “Mondays With Madeleine” town hall, taking place the last Monday of each month.

This month’s town hall will be virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be held Monday, June 28, from 6 to 7 p.m. via video conference, and will be broadcast on Facebook Live on the City’s Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/BrookhavenGAgov.

This month’s event will also include Brookhaven’s Social Justice, Race and Equity Commission Chairman John Funny.

“It was this meeting a year ago that Chairman Funny and I started discussing the need for a social justice commission,” said Simmons. “I am proud of how far we have come in this short time, and I’m looking forward to talking about it during the town hall.”

“What was a kernel of an idea a year ago is now a full-fledged commission with over 30 members who are tackling issues like police use of force and hiring and retention practices in the City,” said Funny.” I’m looking forward to discussing how far we’ve come and what remains in store.”
