Rep. Handel Supports Important Health Policy

Thank you Rep. Karen Handel for addressing Alzheimer's as a public health crisis.

A few weeks ago I posted information about the BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act and invited readers to join me and other Alzheimer's advocates to ask Rep. Karen Handel to sign on as a co-sponsor of this important legislation. Endorsed by the Alzheimer’s Association, the BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act would create an Alzheimer’s public health infrastructure across the country to implement effective Alzheimer's interventions including increasing early detection and diagnosis, reducing risk and preventing avoidable hospitalizations.

Alzheimer’s is the ONLY disease in the top 10 causes of death that has no treatment and no cure. The number of deaths from Alzheimer’s disease in Georgia increased 201% from 2000 to 2015. If we are going to end Alzheimer’s disease, then we must start treating it like the public health threat it is.

Now join me in thanking Rep. Handel for taking decisive action on this important issue and signing on as a co-sponsor of the BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act (HR 4256) on Friday! Rep. Karen Handel, thank you for your support of this important health policy. Together we can End Alzheimer’s!
