Sean McVay Was A Star Player At Brookhaven's Marist School

Now leading the LA Rams to Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, McVay was a standout two-way star football player in metro Atlanta.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- Before he became a Super Bowl NFL head coach, Sean McVay was a standout football player at Marist School in Brookhaven. An Ohio native, McVay lived in Dayton until he was six. He graduated from Marist in 2004 after leading the War Eagles at quarterback and defensive back for four years. McVay, whose grandfather was general manager of the San Francisco 49ers and whose father was a defensive back at Indiana University, was Marist's first player in school history to amass 1,000 yards rushing and passing in consecutive seasons.

According to school records, McVay earned 2,600 yards rushing and 40 rushing touchdowns and also passed for 2,500 yards and 18 touchdowns. As a senior, he led the school to a 14-1 record and a state championship, and was also named Georgia 4A Offensive Player of the Year.

From Brookhaven, McVay attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he played as a wide reciever from 2004-07.
