4th Of July Parade Canceled In Avondale Estates

Mayor Jonathan Elmore said the fireworks display on the evening of July 4 is still on, but the parade that morning is canceled.

AVONDALE ESTATES, GA — The city of Avondale Estates has canceled its Fourth of July parade because it would not meet the city's expectations, Mayor Jonathan Elmore said.

The city's annual parade was set for 10 a.m. July 4 followed by a fireworks display at Lake Avondale at dark, but now only the fireworks show will occur.

"For a variety of reasons, we concluded that we simply didn’t have enough time or participation to pull together a parade that would meet our expectations," Elmore said in a news release. "We look forward to next year when we have more time to plan and implement this beloved event."
