- Teachers and parents are blaming Briarlake Elementary School Principal Jamela Lewis for the unusually high turnover rate at the school in the midst of a teacher shortage. Principal Lewis has been accused of being unprofessional in the way she interacts with parents and staff and creating a toxic work environment. The Briarlake Elementary PTA and Principal?s Advisory Council will hold a meeting with Regional Superintendent Trenton Arnold on Jun. 9 to discuss concerns about teacher retention. (Decaturish.com )
- Just days after certifying the primary election, the DeKalb Elections is heading into a runoff with early voting beginning June 13. The primary certification process was drawn out by a ?technical error? tabulating votes for the District 2 DeKalb County Commissioners race.
New election laws have shortened the timeline between the primary and the June 21 runoff election. (Decaturish.com ) - A man in his 60s is in critical condition after someone stole his car while he was still in it and he fell into the road. According to witnesses, the incident took place at an area car wash. The victim was found in the roadway at Candler Road and Misty Waters Drive. (CBS 46 News)
