Cheers: Avondale Estates Wins Nation's Best Small Town Beer Scene

AVONDALE ESTATES, GA — Cheers, neighbors. Avondale Estates won the nation's best small-town beer scene, according to USA Today.

USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards for the American craft beer scene were announced last Friday, with Avondale Estates besting 19 other small towns for its award.

"The charming town of Avondale Estates, just east of Decatur, has a small downtown area packed with unique food and beverage offerings. For beer lovers, there’s Wild Heaven Beer, The Lost Druid Brewery, The Beer Growler & Pint Haus and (soon) Little Cottage Brewery," USA Today wrote about the city.

Avondale Estates City Manager Patrick Bryant said he and other city leaders already knew Avondale Estates is the best place to grab a craft beer — but now the whole country knows, too.

"Brewing a world class beer is no small feat. It combines science and craftsmanship, experimentation, and repeated rounds of trial and error. That combination says a lot about both the beer that we’re enjoying and the City of Avondale Estates," Bryant said. "Statistically, we probably shouldn’t have stood a chance, as some of the competing cities were 10 times larger, but this win is truly a testament to the pride that we take in our great city."
