Decatur, Avondale Estates To Celebrate July 4th

Each town will have a parade, a concert and fireworks. Eveything's free!

The Fourth of July is approaching and Decatur and Avondale Estates are both planning big parties. Here's information from the two city halls.  All the events are free.

Decatur

  • The Pied Piper Parade. Lineup starts at 5:30 p.m. at Decatur First Baptist Church and the parade starts at 6 p.m. Residents can wear costumes, decorate floats or dress up their bikes, wagons or scooters. Check the parade guidelines with city hall.
  • Concert. The Callendwolde Concert Band performs at 7 p.m. on the court square.
  • Fireworks. At dusk on the court square.

Avondale Estates

  • Parade. Line-up will begin at 9:15 a.m. July 4 at Avondale High School. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and end at Clarendon Avenue and South Avondale Road. Contact Karen Holmes at 404-294-5400 or kholmes@avondaleestes.org if you want to participate or volunteer for the parade.
  • Concert: Atlanta Blue Notes perform at 7:30 p.m. at Lake Avondale.
  • Fireworks. The action begins at dark at the lake.
