Decatur Launches Street-Performer Program
Approved musicians and other performers are now allowed to set up in areas around Decatur Square and in Oakhurst.

DECATUR, GA — The streets of Decatur's entertainment districts may soon be getting a bit livelier. The city, along with the Decatur Arts Alliance, has launched a street-performers program that allows approved performers to entertain in areas around Decatur Square and in the Oakhurst entertainment district.
Under the program, street performers may apply for a free, renewable permit to perform in areas that include the south lawn of the old DeKalb County Courthouse, part of West Ponce de Leon Avenue and Decatur MARTA plaza downtown and in Harmony Park in Oakhurst.
Under the program, performers may accept tips but may not actively solicit for them. They are asked to stay 20 feet apart from each other and not stand too close to building entrances or crosswalks.
