Decatur Mayor Bans Gatherings Of 50 Plus And Dine In Options
Dining in and groups more than 50 have been banned in Decatur after Mayor Garrett issued a Public Health Emergency Order due to coronavirus.
DECATUR — City of Decatur Mayor Patti Garrett issued a Public Health Emergency Order that prohibits dining-in at restaurants and bans gatherings of more than 50 people. Take-out and delivery services between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily will be allowed.
Restaurants with a current alcoholic beverage license can sell beverages for off-premises consumption in sealed containers, according to the executive order.
Several Decatur restaurants have already voluntarily transitioned to a take-out and/or delivery model to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

Residents are encouraged to continue to support our local businesses, including taking advantage of pick-up and delivery services.
Garrett said that an emergency declaration by the City of Decatur ensures that the city is able to work at the local level in a very quick and expedient manner if necessary.

City spokeswoman Renae Madison tells Patch that a curfew isn't being discussed for Decatur yet.
Globally, more than 370,000 people have been infected and more than 16,000 people have died from the COVID-19 virus, Johns Hopkins reported as of midday Monday. Of that total, more than 81,400 confirmed cases are in China, while the entire United States has 41,500 confirmed cases as of midday Monday. There have been almost 573 deaths in the U.S., including 25 in Georgia, that have been tied to the virus outbreak.
