$58 Million on Decatur High, Renfroe Middle?

The Decatur School Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and will talk about a $58 million plan to renovate Decatur High and rebuild Renfroe Middle School.

In the agenda for the Tuesday school board meeting that's posted online, Superintendent Phyllis Edwards doesn't make a recommendation about what the board should do, as she usually would.

Instead, she asks the board for guidance.

The option favored by consultants and the administration would cost about $58 million and require a Nov. 5 bond referendum.

The expansions are needed because of enrollment at Decatur High and Renfroe Middle is expected to double by 2017.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Westchester building at 758 Scott Blvd. A work session will be held 4:30-6 p.m.
