Decatur Seeks Public Input On Strategic Plan Vision, Mission
Decatur residents have until April 4 to review and comment on the city's newly-released strategic plan vision and mission statements.
DECATUR, GA — Decatur residents have a chance to share their thoughts on the city's new strategic plan vision and mission statements until Sunday.
As part of the city's 2020 strategic planning process, the city released a draft version of the mission and vision statements Monday, per a news release. These statements will frame the soon-to-be-released recommendations for the city's strategic plan for the next 10 years.
The city is asking for the community's help via an online survey, open until 11:59 p.m. Sunday night.

“In the coming months we’ll be rolling out the specific strategies and actions proposed for
our next decade,” Decatur Mayor Patti Garrett said in the release. “So right now we’re setting the stage with a framework for organizing them. And we’re proud of the way that framework grew
out of the many community discussions we’ve had since January of 2020.”
The main themes from the community discussions were concern for addressing community affordability; racial equity and diversity; a full range of transportation options; and the challenges of climate change, the release said.

As conversations progressed, city leaders and community members realized the importance of prioritizing solutions that are interconnected.
“That’s why you’ll see 'think holistically' as one of five promises in the mission statements,”
Garrett said.
A final draft of the strategic plan will be presented for public review this summer.
