A winter weather advisory for Tuesday has been issued for all of metro Atlanta and north Georgia. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, goes into effect at 3 am Tuesday and lasts through 7 pm Tuesday. Forecasters predict total snow accumulations of up to one and a half inches, mainly along and north of line from Carrollton to Marietta to Canton. Lesser amounts of snow are likely right along the I-85 corridor. The organization also said any moisture left on the roadways, especially in sheltered or protected areas will likely refreeze, increasing the potential for black ice.
The City of Atlanta will open emergency warming centers in anticipation of wintry precipitation and frigid temperatures. The centers will open tomorrow (1/29) at 6:00 a.m. and will remain open until Thursday morning (1/31). https://t.co/OkklAr67hn pic.twitter.com/KEtQcEKfDf
