DeKalb County School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in DeKalb County is August 7. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The DeKalb County School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/7: First Day of School

• 10/5 - 10/6: No School (Fall Break)
• 10/9: No School (Columbus Day)

November

• 11/7: No School for Students (Teacher’s Workday)
• 11/20 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/20: Last Day of First Semester
• 12/21 - 12/29: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/2: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/3: No School for Students (Post/Pre-Planning Day)
• 1/4: First Day of Second Semester

February

• 2/16: No School (February Break, Inclement Weather Day)
• 2/19: No School (President's Day)

March

• 3/9: No School for Students (Teacher’s Workday/ Professional Development Day)

April

• 4/2 - 4/6: No School (Spring Break)

May

• 5/24: Last Day of School
• 5/25: Post-Planning Day
