DeKalb Lawmakers To Host Public Forum On Elections Legislation

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — DeKalb County state representatives and senators will host a virtual forum Tuesday to discuss several elections-related bills proposed in the Georgia state legislature.

Members of the DeKalb House and Senate Delegation, co-chaired by state Rep. Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates) and state Sen. Emanual Jones (D-Decatur), will host the "Protect Your Voting Rights" discussion at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday via Zoom and Facebook Live.

Registration via Zoom is "strongly encouraged," according to a press release, and those interested in registering can do so online here. The livestream will take place on the county delegation's Facebook page.

Several Republican state lawmakers proposed bills this year related to elections, including bills targeting absentee voting photo ID requirements and prohibiting certain types of identification for in-person voting as well. Some voting rights activists have called such bills "a horror show."
