DeKalb Police Arrest Man Accused Of Hitting Firefighter With Car

A firefighter was directing traffic on Covington Highway last month when someone driving a black Mercedes-Benz struck him and drove away.

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — DeKalb police arrested a man Wednesday who is accused of hitting a firefighter with his car last month and fleeing the scene.

A firefighter was directing traffic on Covington Highway Feb. 17, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, when someone driving a black Mercedes-Benz struck him. The firefighter, whose name has not been released, survived his injuries.

DeKalb County police posted a photo of the driver Wednesday on Twitter, asking the public to help identify the driver. Police arrested 67-year-old Deforest Denson hours later, the AJC reported.

Denson, a Stone Mountain resident, is charged with hit-and-run and reckless driving. He was released from the DeKalb County Jail on bond late Thursday evening, jail records show.
