Disneyland Power Out Ahead Of Bulldogs' Visit

UGA's football team was scheduled to attend a Rose Bowl media event at the theme park Wednesday afternoon.

ANAHEIM, CA — Maybe this means the Bulldogs will play lights-out defense on Monday?

Disneyland Resort was reportedly experiencing a broad power outage on Wednesday, just as football players, coaches and staff members with the University of Georgia were planning to visit the theme park ahead of their National Championship playoff game on New Year's Day.

The team had a media session scheduled Wednesday afternoon at Disneyland in advance of the Rose Bowl matchup against Oklahoma.

But areas of the park that were without power included all attractions, stores and lights in Fantasyland and Toontown, according to a resort spokesperson. The remainder of rides at Disneyland Resort and the nearby California Adventure were running smoothly, they said.

A brief outage was reported at the park around 7:30 a.m. (10:30 a.m. ET) then park goers began sharing reports of an outage in the area of Fantasyland and Mickey's Toontown at about 11 a.m. (2 p.m. ET).

Patch has reached out to Anaheim Public Utilities for further details on the outage, the cause and the length of time expected for repair.

It was unclear Wednesday afternoon how the outage would impact a planned media session at Disneyland for both UGA and Oklahoma players. Both teams practiced at the StubHub Center in Carson, which is south of Los Angeles, then were scheduled to attend the media event.

The event was scheduled for 2 p.m. (5 p.m. ET).

The winner of Monday's Rose Bowl will advance to play either Alabama or Clemson at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in the National Championship Game on Monday, Jan. 8
