Dog Adoption Fees Reduced At DeKalb, Fulton Animal Shelters

ATLANTA, GA — The number of pets entering metro Atlanta's shelters has increased in the last month, according to LifeLine Animal Project, and now they're getting a bit full.

During the month of May, an average of 49 animals per day were brought in to LifeLine's Fulton and DeKalb County Animal Services shelters combined — with the vast majority being lost pets.

Due to this high shelter intake, LifeLine is offering $20 adoptions until June 13 for all dogs over 20 pounds. The promo is available at Lifeline's Fulton and DeKalb shelters, as well as the LifeLine Community Animal Center.

“Last year at this time, people were stepping up in droves to adopt and foster animals,” said Lara Hudson, Fulton County Animal Services' shelter director, in a news release. “We knew adoptions would slow down at some point, so we are hopeful that the community will take advantage of our terrific $20 promotion and bring a best friend home while freeing up needed space at our shelters.”
