Susan Puckett, former food editor of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, has written the definitive book about foodways in one of the most storied and mysterious parts of America, the Mississippi Delta.
She will discuss her work, Eat Drink Delta: A Hungry Traveler's Journey Through the Soul of the South, with John Kessler, chief food writer at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Puckett is a native of Mississippi and a graduate of Ole Miss. She and Kessler are Decatur residents.
The Georgia Center for the Book is sponsoring the event and says of the book, "Part travelogue, part memoir and part photo gallery, it captures all the contradictions in a region that is known for its poverty and racial divide and yet lures people who want to experience its music, art and food. Fascinating recipes are included, but you don't have to be a cook to enjoy all that the book has to offer. Copies will be available for sale and signing."
