Former Braves Pitcher May Have Overdosed

Tommy Hanson died at the age of 29 on Monday.

Former Atlanta Braves pitcher Tommy Hanson may have died from an overdose, according to reports.

Hanson died of catastrophic organ failure at Piedmont Hospital on Monday. A report obtained by the AJC from the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office lists “overdose” as a possible crime. No details yet on why it was listed as a possible cause of death.

Hanson was found unconscious at a friend’s home near Newnan on Sunday. He was transported to Piedmont Hospital and later slipped into a coma.
