Get Ready for LakeFest Music, October 6-7

LakeFest showcases live Music at Pine Lake Beach and Park

LakeFest, the Pine Lake community's annual fall festival, offers two full days of live music within view of the Lake. Admission and parking are free; park at Pine Lake entrance on Rockbridge road and take a free shuttle to lakefront. Festival food and LakeFest Libations will be available. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 pm. on Saturday, October 6, and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 7.
Saturday the festival opens with some exciting drumming: the hypnotic music of “The Hang” drum, played by Serson Brannen of “In Sonitus Lux,” and the dynamic percussion group, “ConunDrums.” The lineup then takes a global turn, with multi-instrumentalist Moira Nelligan performing traditional folk music from Ireland, followed by singer songwriter Elise Witt, bringing global, local and homemade songs in many languages to the LakeFest stage.
Saturday’s show also includes jazz by two of Atlanta’s best, Laura Coyle and Trey Wright; originals and blues by Eva Bird and “The Hollow Bones,” and the soulful music of Donna Hopkins, that ranges from rock to country. Ralph Roddenbery, bringing roots and rock n’ roll straight out of Athens, Georgia, will host the Saturday night party.
There will be a Cosmic Gospel Hour on Sunday morning with Melanie Hammet, Cindy Diamond, and Ann Duckworth. Crossing over several genres of gospel music, the young and dynamic trio, “Ten Thousand Reasons” will return to the LakeFest stage by popular demand. Our favorite street performers, “The Seed and Feed Abominable” Marching Band, will lead Sunday’s parade. Also featured will be hip-hop by Jace Mythic, popular vocals by the Pine Lake Choir, and Pine Lake’s own “blue-eyed soulstress,” Diane Durrett with her band, “Soul Suga’” will headline on Sunday night.
