Overcrowded Animal Shelters Sparks Free Adoptions Through Sunday

Lifeline Animal Project is holding free pet adoptions through Sunday at four Fulton and DeKalb shelters.

ATLANTA -- High intake at local animal shelters has prompted Lifeline Animal Project to hold free adoptions through Sunday. LifeLine's DeKalb and Fulton shelters are receiving up to 60 animals every day. All adoptions include the pet’s spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations, valued at over $300, for no additional cost.

Participating shelters include:

  • DeKalb County Animal Services, 3280 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Chamblee;
  • Fulton County Animal Services, 860 Marietta Blvd NW, Atlanta;
  • LifeLine Dog House & Kitty Motel, 129 Lake Street, Avondale Estates; and
  • LifeLine Cat Adoption Center, 3172 E Ponce de Leon Ave, Scottdale.

Between LifeLine’s four shelters, there are over 995 animals to choose from.

Additionally, LifeLine’s DeKalb County Animal Services shelter, along with the Atlanta Humane Society and Best Friends Atlanta shelters, will be open until 10 p.m. Saturday for a "Paws in PJs" pajama party, featuring animals in pajamas and free adoptions.
