Lanes, Ramps On I-285 In DeKalb To Close This Week

The closures will be to allow DOT work crews to resurface a patch of the interstate in DeKalb and Fulton counties.

DECATUR, GA — Ramps and lanes on Interstate 285 in DeKalb County will be closed starting Wednesday as work crews begin resurfacing a patch of the highway.

The work will run from the SR 42/Moreland Avenue exit to Conley Road in Fulton County, Georgia Department of Transportation officials said Wednesday. The lane closures will continue through Monday in DeKalb County, the DOT announced, and through Wednesday for the entire job.

The work — and the closures — will be happening from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. They are as follows:

  • Wednesday and Thursday, April 18-19: Exit 53 (SR 42/Moreland Avenue) on-ramp will be closed. Two right lanes and outside shoulder will be closed on I-285 eastbound and westbound between Moreland Avenue and Jonesboro Road.
  • Friday through Monday, April 20-23: Two left lanes and inside shoulder closed from just south of Conley Road to Moreland Avenue on I-285 eastbound and westbound.
  • Monday through Wednesday, April 23-25: Exit 55 (Jonesboro Road) off-ramp closed. Traffic detoured to Exit 58 (Conley Road). Exit 55 (Jonesboro Road) on-ramp closed. Traffic detoured to Exit 53 (Moreland Avenue). Two right lanes and outside shoulder closed on I-285 westbound between Jonesboro Road and Conley Road.

Those dates may change due to weather or other factors, the DOT said. Motorists in the area are advised to expect delays, use caution and reduce their speed while driving in work zones. Before heading out, they may get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or downloading the Georgia 511 app.
