Local Brewery The Lost Druid Needs Your Support

Learn how the Avondale Estates company is faring during the coronavirus and what you can do to support them during this difficult time.

(Patch)

The new coronavirus has changed life for all of us. Local businesses have taken a huge economic hit, but communities are finding creative ways to support the establishments they know and love.

In an effort to help local businesses in our communities stay connected and succeed, Patch will shine a light on some of them through a series of Q&A articles during this time.

The Lost Druid is one of the businesses in town facing struggles during the coronavirus. You can lend your support by reading more about the brewery, taproom and kitchen, below, and by contacting them here.

Tell us about your business and its history in your town.

The Lost Druid opened on the summer solstice in June 2019 and offers a regularly changing selection of freshly made beers across a variety of styles. The Lost Druid is a women owned business and one of the few breweries in Georgia that also serves flavorful dishes from our on-site kitchen.

In keeping with the Druid's love of nature, we strive to honor nature through the use of solar power, water conservation programs and providing our spent grain to a local farmer to feed his livestock.

How has the new coronavirus impacted your business and its employees?

Having to move to all to-go purchases has drastically reduced our business. In addition, with the current stay-at-home orders, we have also reduced the number of hours that we are open each day to minimize expenses. We do not have enough revenue coming in to sustain our payroll and we've had to furlough the majority of our staff.

We've set up a GoFundMe campaign to collect donations to help our staff with their living expenses and have applied for unemployment benefits for them.

How can local customers support you now and in the future?

In the near term, customers can support us by checking out our menu on our website and call in a to-go order. We also have gift certificates available for purchase on-site that can be used at a later time.

In the future, continue to check our our social media channels (@thelostdruid) for updates on new beer releases and events (e.g. music, trivia, comedy shows, etc.). In addition, we have an event space available for future private parties or meetings of up to 70 guests, and a taproom buy-out can be arranged for larger groups.

Do you have any words of encouragement for your community?

While this is a painful process for so many, there are opportunities to join together with other businesses to cross-promote one another and provide support to help one another through this situation.

Are you offering any special services, promotions or hours during this time?

During the COVID-19 pandemic we are offering beer in single cans or as four-packs and food to-go. Call 404-998-5679 to pre-order for parking lot pick-up or through DoorDash for delivery.

At this time we have abbreviated hours: Tuesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Check our social media channels for promotions, as these change depending on our inventory.

Are there any other outstanding businesses in town you think deserve some community support?

Kafenio in Avondale Estates is another new business that would appreciate support at this time.
