Man Injured In Gunfire Exchange With DeKalb Police: GBI

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer-involved shooting in DeKalb County from Monday, leaving one man injured.

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — Police exchanged gunfire with a man outside a home in DeKalb County after responding to a domestic call, and now he is in the hospital, officials said.

Terace Williams, 21, is in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital as of Tuesday.

DeKalb County Police Department officers arrived at a home on Beech Drive in Decatur around 5:35 p.m. Monday in response to a domestic dispute call, where they found Williams standing outside. Police said he was holding a gun when the officers arrived, and he reportedly did not comply when asked to show his hands and surrender.

Williams reportedly then fired at the officers, and four officers shot back, police said.

"During the incident, Williams fired on the officers. Four DKPD officers returned fire, striking Williams," a news release said.

No officers were injured in the shooting. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will conduct an independent investigation of the incident and once completed, it will be turned over to the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office for review.
