Memorial Day 2022: What's Open, Closed In Decatur

DECATUR, GA — Monday, May 30 is Memorial Day. In observance of the holiday, most federal, state and local government offices are closed.
There will be no mail delivery. Many businesses are open but with different hours — so it's not a bad idea to check before heading out.
Here's a breakdown of how the holiday could impact your routine:

- DeKalb County government offices are closed Monday.
- Municipal offices for the cities of Decatur and Avondale Estates are closed Monday.
- The DeKalb County Public Library system is closed Monday, May 30. Normal hours will resume Tuesday, May 31.
- Decatur garbage pickup: For residents in Decatur's city limits, regular service for Monday will be on Tuesday, May 31. Regular service for Tuesday will be on Wednesday. All other days' routes are not affected.
- Avondale Estates garbage pickup: There will be no trash service on Memorial Day. All routes will have their trash picked up Tuesday.
- DeKalb County garbage pickup: The DeKalb County Sanitation Department is closed Monday, so there will be no garbage pickup. Collection will run one day late for all customers.
- The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority will operate bus service, rail service and Atlanta streetcar service on Sunday schedules for Memorial Day.
- DeKalb County Schools and City Schools of Decatur students are finished with school for the semester.
- This is a federal holiday and all U.S. Postal Service post offices are closed Monday.
- All banks will be closed.
