Monday Essentials: Author of UGA History at Decatur Library
Here are five things to do this week in Decatur and Avondale Estates.
History for Bulldogs. Carrol Dadisman will talk about his new book, Dear Old UGA, a history of the school told through stories from the student newspaper, The Red and Black. He's a former editor for the paper. 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the Decatur Library. Presented by the Georgia Center for the Book. Free.
Let's wrassle! Pro wrestling comes to the Decatur First United Methodist Church gym. Independent wrestlers from Georgia will climb into the ring, plus Decatur First UMC Youth Director Jonathan Brown. Saturday at 6 p.m. $10 tickets.
Cat-loving musician. Sarah Donner, a cat rescuer as well as a singer/songwriter, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Java Monkey at 425 Church St. in Decatur. Her music has been featured on Conan O'Brien's blog, NPR, and CBS News.
Novelist. Christopher Bundy will talk about his novel Baby, You're a Rich Man at 7:15 p.m. Monday at the Decatur Library. He's a professor at SCAD. Presented by the Georgia Center for the Book. Free.
Cooking lessons. Starting this week, Curtis Ross will teach summer cooking classes at the Lake House at 59 Lakeshore Drive in Avondale Estates. Check the Patch calendar of events for schedule and prices.
