Pair Nabbed In Florida, Charged In DeKalb Killing

The two are charged with shooting a Lithonia man, then dumping his body in a local river, says media report.

DECATUR, GA — Two people from DeKalb County are sitting in a Florida jail, awaiting extradition to Georgia on murder and other charges stemming from a July 9 shooting death in Lithonia, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office. The two were arrested last week at a motel in Tallahassee, Fla., the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Rondriques Brundage, 32, of Lithonia has been charged with the shooting death of Rodrell Matthews, 34, the sheriff's office said. Authorities allege that Brundage shot Matthews to death at the front door of a home in the 6600 block of Chupp Road in Lithonia.

The body of Matthews was found several days later by a fisherman in the South River in DeKalb County, the AJC reported.

A Decatur woman, Caroline Alicia Davis, 23, has been charged with concealing a death and tampering with evidence, the sheriff's office said. Authorities allege that on the day of the shooting, Davis tried to conceal Matthews’ death by destroying or altering evidence at the scene.

Another individual, Antavis Ivey, is being held in the DeKalb jail on the same charges as Davis, the AJC reported.

Acting on a tip from the Fugitive Unit of the DeKalb sheriff's office, a contingent of law enforcement officers apprehended Davis and Brundage on Friday. The group included U.S. Marshals; sheriff's deputies from Leon County, Fla.; and officers from the Tallahassee Police Department.

Brundage and Davis are being held at the Leon County Jail in Tallahassee pending extradition to DeKalb County, the DeKalb sheriff's office said.
