Road Rage: Driver Shot, Hits DeKalb House

The DeKalb police are looking for the shooter who caused the midnight collision, say media reports.

DECATUR, GA — The Dekalb County police are investigating a midnight road rage incident in which a driver was shot to death and crashed his car into a house, according to media reports. The gunman remained at large Thursday and was driving a dark-colored SUV, described as a Mercury Mountaineer, the police said.

The incident started at about 11:55 p.m. Wednesday when the shooting victim turned south on Columbia Drive from Memorial Drive and cut off the shooter, a police spokesman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The second driver pulled alongside the first vehicle, then pulled a gun and shot into the first vehicle, killing the driver instantly.

The first vehicle then hit two parked cars and plowed into a house on Columbia Drive, say media reports. When police arrived, they found the car inside the house; the driver, a 22-year-old man, was dead inside the car.

After the car crashed into her house, the homeowner said her first reaction was to call the police and get everyone out of the car. Two passengers, a 20-year-old woman and a 39-year-old woman, were in the vehicle, the AJC reported.

Dekalb firefighters eventually pulled the passengers out of the car, the homeowner said. There were no other injuries reported.
