Shirley Franklin To Give Decatur High Commencement Address

The former Atlanta mayor will speak May 24 in the high school stadium.

Shirley Franklin, the former mayor Atlanta, will deliver the commencement address May 24 to Decatur High School graduates, Principal Lauri McKain said.

Franklin served as mayor of Atlanta from 2002 to 2010. The Atlanta Business Chronicle reported in January that Franklin would join the University of Texas in Austin’s LBJ School of Public Affairs as the Barbara Jordan Visiting Professor in Ethics and Political Values.

Graduation will be held at 7 p.m. in the school stadium. In case of rain, the event will be moved into the school gymnasium.
