Storms Could Affect DeKalb Schools, Officials Monitoring
DeKalb School officials said Thursday that they are monitoring the severe storms that have rolled into metro Atlanta.
DEKALB COUNTY, GA — Severe thunderstorms across the metro area could impact DeKalb County schools Thursday and Friday, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. According to school officials, the operations division has been monitoring the weather throughout the week, along with the DeKalb Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service.
The school district tells the AJC that high winds could cause power outages and damages.
The National Weather Service said downpours could dump 2 to 4 inches of rain on much of the Atlanta region by Friday, with 6 inch rainfall amounts possible in a few areas.

According to the weather service, a flash flood watch is in effect until 7 a.m. Friday.
"Very heavy rain will be moving in tonight and continuing through Thursday night," the National Weather Service warned on Wednesday. "Three to four inches of rain with local amounts near six inches are possible. Flooding will continue well after the rain ends."

There is a tornado watch for central and northern Georgia, which include Atlanta and Decatur.
