Why United States lost 500k lives and China is so few with 4x population? Because 70% of the US population are overweight and 40% are obese. Highly processed foods, sedentary life style, stress, fear, sleep deprivation are perfect environment for the viruse to thrive. In addition, lacking of understanding of the pandemics and mismanagement by the leadership helped the spread of the virus. Vaccines are the band-aids for the Covid-19. Working on the roots of the problem is the ultimate solution to cope with viruses. I do recommend people to receive vaccine if they are vulnerable due to various medical conditions.
