Weekender: Learn to Save Seeds At Wylde Center

Here are five things to know about the weekend in and around Decatur and Avondale Estates.


Save your seeds.
The Wylde Center invites everybody to share tomatoes,  celebrate their flavors and stories and learn how to save seeds. Coffee will be followed by presentation and seed-saving demos. Starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at 435 Oakview Road, Decatur. Free.

Bike rides. Decatur Active Living tells of two rides. Decatur Bikes will lead a ride to Stone Mountain starting at 8 a.m. Saturday at the CVS parking lot. An 11-mile ride through Avondale Estates, Oakhurst and Decatur leaves at 2 p.m. Saturday from 415 E Howard Ave., across from the Old Train Depot. Free.

Live music.
At Eddie's Attic, Bobby Long with Michael Bernard Fitzgerald on Friday; Marshall Chapman CD release show and Moontower with Waller on Saturday; and CrystalBowersox with guests Marshall Ruffin for the first show and Liz Longley for the second show on Sunday. At Big Tex Cantina, the Georgia Soul Council on Saturday.

Semi-pro basketball tryouts. The Atlanta Aliens will hold regional tryouts at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Grant Park basketball facility at 537 Park Ave. SE. 

Learn to knit. A two-day intro class to knitting will be held at Belly General Store 772 N. Highland Ave. NE. Starts at 10 a.m. Saturday.
