Woman Arrested In Shooting Outside DeKalb Target

DECATUR, GA -- A Covington woman is in jail Wednesday after being charged in connection to a shooting at DeKalb County target this week, Patch has learned. Tara L. Moody, 40, was taken into custody late Tuesday after a man stumbled into the store on Lavista Road in Tucker earlier in the day.

The incident stemmed from what authorities are calling “parking lot rage,” after Moody and another motorist got into it outside the Target. With a delivery van blocking them in one direction, Moody and 47-year-old Robert Herwing of Decatur each contended for a parking space with neither of them willing to compromise, according to authorities.

Law enforcement officials viewed surveillance video of the incident, which showed that in the heat of the moment, Herwing got out of his vehicle and pour some type of liquid on Moody's car, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. To make matters worse, Herwing then allegedly pour the liquid on Moody not once, but twice, WSB-TV reports. Moments later, Herwing got shot.

The victim is expected to be OK although he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. As a result, Moody is charged with felony aggravated assault, according to jail records.

Moody is expected to appear before a DeKalb judge on Thursday, according to news reports.
