1 Year Ago: Man Allegedly Choked Woman Who Didn't Match Online Profile

A Walton County man has been arrested in Kentucky after allegedly choking a woman he met on the Internet because she didn’t fit her online profile.
The Lauren County Sheriff’s Office said Cornelius Jefferson, 33, of Monroe, had moved from Georgia to Kentucky to be with the woman.

But early Tuesday morning, deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute around 4:20 a.m. The deputy learned the man and woman had been arguing.
“The argument was allegedly because the male subject didn’t think she was like she was on the Internet, and he allegedly choked her with both hands around the neck and threw food on her and left the scene on foot with two suitcases,” the sheriff’s office said in a media release.

Jefferson was quickly found nearby and arrested.
He was charged with fourth-degree assault – domestic violence.
