Gwinnett County Fair Starts Thursday, Expects 200,000 People

The 11-day fair returns for the first time in two years on Thursday with free admission. Get ready for lambs, lumberjacks, and ninjas.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA ? Organizers are hard at work setting up booths, games, and rides for the Gwinnett County Fair, which will return on Thursday for the first time since Sep. 2019.

After so much time away, fairground manager Dale Thurman told the Gwinnett Daily Post that he believes that after so much time away, Gwinnett County residents have ?cabin fever? and are eager to return. Fair organizers anticipate 200,000 people will attend the 11-day event, according to the Post.

The fair will have all the usual attractions: unlimited rides (for $22), a goal show, a ?Ninja Experience Show, a Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show complete with axe throwing and chainsaw racing, a lamb show, the Miss Gwinnett County pageant, a new ?Grown in Georgia? exhibit showing a variety of foods grown in the state, a petting zoo, and four different free concerts from the Malpass Brothers, the Swingin Medallions, Wilson-Fairchild, and Kazual.

Fair organizers recommend attendees wear face masks, but that is just a recommendation. Fair organizers are also reducing the number of indoor exhibits, and spacing out seating at the Miss Gwinnett pageant Saturday, according to the Post.

Admission will be free on Thursday, and parking is free throughout the duration of the fair. After Thursday, admission costs $10 for anyone aged 12 to 64, $5 for seniors and kids aged 6-11, and free for children 5 and under.
