2013 Grayson High School Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Gwinnett County Public Schools announces names of Grayson High School's 2012-2013 valedictorian and salutatorian.

Gwinnett County Public Schools has released the names of the 2012-2013 valedictorian and salutatorian from Grayson High School.

The title of valedictorian is normally given to the student with the highest GPA, and salutatorian is given to the student with the second-highest GPA. Photos of the honorees are attached to the story.

  • Valedictorian: Julie Spangler, daughter of Wendy and Greg Spangler, will attend the University of Georgia. Her intended major is risk management and she intends to have a career in finance or actuarial science. She has received a $2,000 Balwin Scholarship and $500 from Maxxis. Honors and  awards include Super Six Golfer 2013, Calculus and Geometry Awards and Science Student of Promise. During high school, she was the executive chair of the community service committee, was the founder and president of the Environmental Club, played Varsity Golf and was a member of the National Honor Society, the Beta Club and the Spanish Honor Society. She was also a volunteer at the Path Project.
  • Salutatorian: Danielle McKeiver, daughter of Aleine and Michael Gomes, will attend Vanderbilt University and major in education and mathematics. Her career goals include becoming a teacher and possibly working in a Spanish-speaking country for a period of time. She has received a $2,000 a year National Achievement through College Board scholarship and well as a $2,500 Alton C. Crews teaching scholarship and a $500 Maxxis scholarship.  Other recognition over the years, include  being a National Achievement Finalist, a National Merit Commended student, a scholar athlete and an outstanding student in classes at GHS. She has participated in a number of activities, Future Educators Association, Relay for Life, National Honor Society, Beta Club, Spanish Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and SADD. She also has volunteered in the community with the Path Project and is a Sunday School teacher at Victory World Church.
