SNELLVILLE, GA — More than 4,000 gallons of sewage spilled Sunday into a creek tributary in Snellville.
Gwinnett County officials announced that the 4,108-gallon spill happened at a manhole on Highpoint Road around 5:26 p.m. and was stopped at 7:07 p.m.

Gwinnett's water resources department noted Monday that some products labeled "flushable" do not break apart once they are in the sanitary sewer system.
As these items collect in the sewer pip, they can eventually cause blockages that can lead to backups or overflows. More information on flushables can be found online. Information on how to help reduce grease in the sewage system can be found here.
