UPDATE: 2 Children in Walton County Injured by Falling Tree

Children were transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

UPDATE: Chief Deputy Keith Brooks said that the family is declining to give any updates on the incident or the conditions of the children. They are choosing to have their privacy respected at this time. Brooks said it is no longer a police issue since it was a accident and not anything that requires police investigation.

Two young children in Walton County were lifeflighted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston on Friday after being hit by a falling tree, according to Fox 5.

The incident is reported to have happened on Wagon Trail, which is in the Loganville/Walnut Grove area of Walton County. According to the story, the two young children were visiting their father when a 40-foot, old, rotting tree fell on them. They were riding a battery-operated toy jeep at the time. Fox 5 reports that a 4-year old boy was the most seriously injured after taking a direct hit, while a 3-year-old girl was alert and conscious.
