Driver Arrested For Hit-And-Run In Fatal Lawn Mower Crash

A Lithonia man is in jail Friday in connection with a hit-and-run accident that killed a Snellville man on a riding lawn mower.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A driver that authorities say killed a Snellville man on a riding lawn mower in a hit-and-run is in jail Friday without bond.

Lamon Gravesande, 22, is charged with homicide by vehicle, hit-and-run resulting in serious injury, and failing to report an accident in connection with the death Thursday night of Jeffrey Hibbler, 59, of Snellville.

According to authorities, Hibbler was on a riding mower traveling against traffic on Lee Road in Snellville when Gravesande, driving a BMW in the opposite direction, hit him. Hibbler later died of his injuries. Investigators haven’t said why Hibbler was riding his lawn mower on a dark street.
